PHYS420
Refraction Demonstration
Kacper Wardynski
THE LESSON
The difficulty of this topic is aimed at Grade 8 students, as by the VSB curriculum, optics is introduced at this level. This lesson will introduce the concept of the slowing of light as it enters different media, and how this change of speed causes the change of direction of different wavelengths of light.
This knowledge, along with the concept of total internal reflection, will be put together to explain to the students how rainbows are formed. There will be a variety of demonstrations throughout the lesson to help the students visualize the concepts being taught, and solidify their understanding of the topic.
